Upcoming Disney Movies That Will Knock Your Socks Off

Upcoming Disney Movies That Will Knock Your Socks Off

2016 was a great year for Disney. They made more money than any other studio in history. Disney doesn't plan on slowing down one bit. The 2017 line up has fewer movies than the previous year but each movie is bound to be a show stopper.

Disney owns Walt Disney Pictures, Disneynature, Lucasfilm Ltd., Marvel Studios, Walt Disney Animation and Pixar. With all those studios at Disney's disposal, the upcoming line up is great to say the least. Here is a list of the top 5 upcoming Disney flicks we have to look forward to.

Thor Ragnarok, Marvel Studios

1. Thor Ragnarok

The first two Thor movies has received mixed reviews with the majority being slightly negative. Having said that, the director Taika Waititi promises a very significantly different tone than the first two. Thor, Hulk and Dr. Strange all in the same movie, I can't wait. Plus, Thor's beloved hammer Mjölnir gets destroyed by Hel, this movie is going to rock.

Coco Pixar Disney Movie

2. Coco

Coco, an original Pixar movie about aspiring musician Miguel and a trickster named Hector go on an extraordinary journey through the Land of the Dead. In the past Pixar made it a point to stay away from the musical archetype that is so prevalent in Disney movies but have changed it up for Coco. It's going to be fun to see what the great minds at Pixar come up with.

Starwars the last jedi

Star Wars: Episode VIII The Last Jedi

What is there to say about this movie? This is the 8th film in the Star Wars saga and 2 in the sequel trilogy. It begins right where The Force Awakens left off. If you don't remember exactly what took place, let me enlighten you. Rye receives a key piece from R2D2 leading to the location of Luke Skywalker. It was said in the film that Luke was searching for the lost Jedi Temple. Rye is seen hiking up a mountain and as she makes her way through the terrain low and behold she finds Luke Skywalker.

I'm not going to get into all my theories about this movie but needless to say, there are quite a few. I'm most exciting to see how powerful Rye will become after Luke Skywalkers training.

Black Panther

4. Black Panther

Black Panther is the 18th installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe taking place after Avengers: Age of Ultron and Captain America: Civil War. King T'Challa returns home to Wakanda to be the leader of his people. Upon returning home he soon realizes that his right to the throne is being challenged by different factions within his country. On the brink of war, T'Challa must team up with C.I.A agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje (Wakandan special forces) to defeat his foes.

I really like the character that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has developed for Black Panther. I think this movie is going to be great.

a wrinkle in time movie image

 5. A Wrinkle in Time

For those of you who are new to A Wrinkle in Time, this movie is about a teenage girl (Storm Reid) who is hurled into a cosmic adventure spanning across time and space in search of her lost scientist father (Chris Pine). She is guided by 3 celestial beings: Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon) and Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey). If you are into fantasies, this one is going to be epic.

This movie is right at the top with Thor: Ragnarak for what I am most excited to see. It has a great cast and I have always been a sucker for Sci Fi/Fantasy movies.
